COUNCILMAN BOB COADY Welcome to my web site!
CAREFREE MATTERS est. 1999
August, 2010
Dear Citizens:
Council approved the June Financial report. Tax revenues were up 4.24% compared to June 09, but still the second lowest June revenue in 6 years. On the positive side, thanks to laying off 3 staff members and being financially circumspect, Carefree was only down -13% in revenues for the fiscal year 2009-2010 and money was put in the bank. The Carefree Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce gave its quarterly report. 2 new shops will be opening in Carefree soon. Due to a Public Information Request from Vice Mayor Miler requesting names and e-mail addresses of those receiving CAREFREE MATTERS, Councilman Coady has been approved for legal representation on this Information Request (please see Last Month’s Question below). It has always been my position to protect the names and e-mail addresses of citizens that take the time to respond to CAREFREE MATTERS. Councilman Stavoe announced that he is taking out an initiative for citizens to vote for council term limits in next March’s election. He stated that term limits would result in discouraging special interest and promote better government transparency. The Carefree Water Company received a $60,000 grant to replace pumps. CALL TO THE PUBLIC: No one spoke.
SHERIFF’S SECTOR:
MCSO June stats- 1 burglary, 14 arrests, 1
assault, 1 DUI, 205 citations issued with 86
for speed. June 2010 citations are down
35%
from June 2009.
QUESTION OF THE MONTH: Councilman Stavoe recently proposed that the Town of Carefree pursue establishment of a "green friendly" community dog park as a town core attraction and citizen lifestyle enhancement. A downtown commercial property owner offered to lease his land at minimal cost for this purpose. Do you feel this idea is worthy of pursuing? LAST MONTH’S QUESTION: How would you rate the Cave Creek Rd paving done with federal stimulus money? Well, I did get one reply from someone that thought the road paving was a good job. But the rest considered the job atrocious. While I did not ask for a comparison, many compared our road work with what was done in Cave Creek and felt that Carefree was not even a close second. Because I did receive so many replies from people unhappy with the work, I submitted some of those replies to the council (as always, names and emails were not included for privacy reasons).
DID YOU KNOW:
Long time Carefree resident, David Smith, is
running for the State Legislature to represent
our district 7.
EVENT CALENDAR:
Planning and Zoning- 8/9,5 PM,
Town Council Meeting- 9/7, 5:00 PM
If you wish to contact me, be included, or removed from my email list for CAREFREE MATTERS, write me at BobCoadyaz@aol.com. Or, if your e-mail address should change, please let me know that too, so you can continue to receive CAREFREE MATTERS. Councilman Bob Coady
